Is my property in a qualifying disadvantaged area?
Disadvantaged Area Stamp Duty relief is available in 1,997 areas across the UK, selected by reference to national Indices of Deprivation. These areas are based on local government wards and electoral divisions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and “postcode areas” in Scotland.
Important Note: under the statutory rules a property must have been situated in the area concerned at the relevant date, or must at 27 November 2001 have had the same full postcode as a property which was so situated, in order to qualify for relief. Any changes made to ward boundaries or postcodes after the relevant date do not affect eligibility for relief.
A list of the designated areas has been drawn up on the basis of electoral wards, except in Scotland where it is based on postcodes. The relevant dates for each UK country are shown below. Choose the link to open a list of the qualifying areas in that country.
