Stamp duty calculator
The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that stamp duty land tax will not apply to purchases of residential property of £175,000 or less (previously £125,000). This relief will apply to transactions with an effective date on or after 3rd September 2008 and before 3rd September 2009.
This will provide an exemption from stamp duty land tax for land transactions consisting entirely of residential property where the chargeable consideration is not more than £175,000.
Currently the tax is 1% of the property's value for those valued over £175,000 up to and including £250,000, 3% for properties valued over £250,000 up to and including £500,000 and 4% for properties valued over £500,000
Simply enter the value of the property that you want to buy and our calculator will tell you how much stamp duty will be payable. Remember that there is no stamp duty payable when you remortgage your existing property.
